Google India Digitisation Fund

Google announces USD 10 billion in India Digitization Fund and dearth of Indian language specialists.
On July 13, 2020 during the Google For India event, Sundar Pichai, Google CEO announced that the technology giant will invest USD 10 billion (75000 crore INR) in India over the next 5-7 years.
As per their blog, the fund will focus on four important areas, starting with “First, enabling affordable access and information for every Indian in their own language, whether it’s Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi or any other”.
This large investment fund and their commitment to India reiterates the growing importance of India as a market worldwide, and eventually the importance of reaching Indians in their own languages that we have recently written about in multiple blogs – Indian language internet, मराठी व भारतीय भाषांचे वाढते महत्त्व, Rural Internet users now outnumber urban users in India.
We have also spoken and written extensively about unavailability of adequately trained Indian language content writers, translators and interpreters for the tremendous Indian language market. That is one of the reasons we launched the भाषांतर क्षेत्रातील संधी आणि आमचा ह्या क्षेत्रातील नवीन मार्गदर्शक कोर्स, Orientation Course in translation in 2018 for which we have completed 8 batches till now!
We would like to announce our next intermediate course in translation – keep watching our Workshops page for details.
